LIVING CLASSROOMS FOUNDATION FREDERICK DOUGLASS-ISAAC MYERS MARITIME PARK AND MUSEUM
BALTIMORE, MD | The Frederick Douglass - Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum is the flagship campus and national heritage site for Living Classrooms Foundation, a non-profit organization that has spent decades providing hands-on educational and job training programs for individuals of all ages. The site is adjacent to the original location of the first African American owned shipyard in the country. The facility embraces active learning with fleet of ships including floating classrooms and historic museum vessels with activities in STEM, ecology, and cultural and maritime heritage in concert with museum of African American Maritime History. The plaza surface was designed to also reflect the palimpsest of various building foundation traces that have occupied the site.
