DESIGNER

Growing up in a small coastal city, Yu witnessed the intimate relationships shared between humans, nature, and constructed urban environments. She believes landscape is a link between disciplines, opening possibilities to imagine and improve the daily lives of communities.

Yu received her bachelor’s degree in Agriculture in Landscape Architecture from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and master’s degree of Landscape Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She is interested in design as a tool for better systematic understanding of what a site is and what it could be. She has particular interest in site characteristics and creating spaces with visible design aesthetics which she believes can significantly impact and improve people's lives.

Yu joined MVLA in the summer of 2022 and has been involved with multiple campus and urban projects in various scopes and scales. She is buoyed by challenges and the opportunities to strengthen herself inside and outside the office. She is a big fan of photographing how all the creatures, both human and nonhuman, enjoy landscapes.
